Lifestyle & Wellness

Who doesn’t love the warm glow and lovely scent of a burning candle? Here’s an easy DIY to make all-natural soy candles using just a few glass jars, soy wax flakes, essential oils, and candle wicks.

DIY Soy Candle Made from Repurposed Eminence Organics Glass Jars

In the spirit of staying green, we reused empty jars from our Biodynamic® line—after all, they’re too pretty to throw away.

What you need:
– Soy wax flakes
– Candle wicks
– Empty glass jars (we used Eminence jars from our Biodynamic® Collection; mason jars work well too)
– Essential oils (we used lavender and citronella)
– Dried lavender or other herbs (optional)
– Hot glue gun or glue dots
– Metal saucepan
– Glass measuring cup or another heat-safe pouring container
– Strips of cardboard or reinforced paper (to hold wicks in place)
– Scissors
– Wooden spoon

Steps:
1. Glue each wick to the bottom center of a jar using a hot glue gun or glue dot. Use a strip of cardboard across the jar’s top to keep the wick centered and straight.
2. Melt the soy wax flakes in a metal saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally. Don’t leave melting wax unattended.
3. When fully melted, remove the pan from heat. Avoid overheating.
4. Pour some melted wax into the glass measuring cup.
5. Add 4–5 drops of essential oil to the wax (adjust for scent strength) and stir with a wooden spoon. You can also mix in dried herbs now if you like.
6. Slowly pour the scented wax into each jar, leaving about 5 mm (a little under 1/4 inch) of space at the top.
7. Repeat steps 4–6 until you’ve used all the melted wax.
8. Place the candles on a flat surface and let them cool completely for several hours. Trim the wicks before lighting.

When they’re ready, try an at-home spa: apply your favorite Eminence masque, run a warm bath, light your DIY soy candles, and relax. Have you tried this DIY? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
