First Student Recipient of Our Community & Green Practices Award

Media & Awards

We’re committed to our community and the environment, and that starts with a strong foundation. That’s why we’re supporting students at the beginning of their skincare careers who share our values of giving back to the community and caring for the planet. We honor these students with the Eminence Organic Skin Care Award for Community Involvement and Green Practices.

First Student Recipient of Our Community & Green Practices Award

We’re proud to announce the first recipient: Nilda DeGuzman Eum, who is enrolled in the esthetics program at Vancouver Community College (VCC) in BC, Canada. Nilda received the award from our Brand & Product Creative Director, Stephanie Baresh, and VCC President Dr. Peter Nunoda. We’ve been impressed by how she lives our company’s mission and her commitment to making the planet better. We recently spoke with Nilda — here’s what she told us:

Why did you choose to study esthetics?
I’ve been in the esthetics program for nine months. It’s been a fascinating journey learning about skin and body therapy, and exploring the experience of beauty and relaxation.

Describe a typical day for yourself
As a mother of two, my days are always full and challenging. I juggle studying, caring for my family, doing personal activities, and working part-time. It’s tough, but if you follow your passion with a happy heart, the hard work is worth it.

“It’s very important to preserve our Mother Earth. To support the planet, we have to start with ourselves. Wherever I go, I practice and share the importance of green habits.”
— Nilda DeGuzman Eum

Can you tell us what you do to support green practices?
I believe protecting our planet starts with small daily choices. I practice sustainable habits in my own life and encourage others to do the same.

What are your favorite Eminence products and why?
My favorites are the Monoi Age Corrective Exfoliating Cleanser, Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant, and Bright Skin Moisturizer. I had heavy pigmentation, and these products helped brighten my skin. I also love them because they’re organic and easy to use.

What do you hope to do in the future and how will you continue on your path to success?
I plan to complete my Cosmetology Diploma Program, find a job, gain experience, and keep following my passion so I can succeed in this industry.

We wish Nilda the best of luck in her promising future and look forward to recognizing the next recipient of our Community Involvement & Green Practices Award.
