Every time you open a jar of Eminence Organics, you don’t just inhale pure, organic scents—you connect with the story behind our products. Lesley McCave, editor of DAYSPA, recently sat down with our president, Boldijarre Koronczay, to talk about Eminence’s humble beginnings and what still drives him today.
Born in Hungary, Boldijarre was just four when he was diagnosed with leukemia and given only a 0.1% chance to live. His parents turned to organic and biodynamic foods during that time, which Boldijarre believes helped save him and later inspired his mission to share the benefits of organic skin care widely. In 1996, Boldijarre and his brother Attila moved to Vancouver, Canada, working low-wage jobs while building Eminence’s presence in North America. It took nine years before the company gained momentum there—years fueled by his belief that natural, organic skincare could improve millions of lives.
DAYSPA asked Boldijarre about the passion that pushed the company from modest roots to an award-winning brand sold in nearly 50 countries. We’re sharing a few favorite moments from the Q&A:
“Do you have any advice for people starting out today?
Education is essential. It’s something no one can take from you, and it lasts a lifetime. Also diversify—add licenses and skills so you’re more flexible when looking for work. Never settle. Always grow. If you’re not growing, you’re shrinking.
What would you say to people who remain unconvinced about organic skin care?
Organic skincare has come a long way—from fanciful creams to powerful, healthy alternatives to chemical products. Today’s organic options can deliver dramatic results without harmful side effects.
How do you define happiness?
‘Happiness is a state of mind, not a situation.’ It isn’t tied to your circumstances. You can choose a positive outlook that makes others wish they were you.”
