Eminence Volunteers Prepare More Than 150 Liters of Organic Soup for Sick Children

Sustainability

Since 2013, the Eminence Kids Foundation has supported sick children during treatment and recovery by providing organic nutrition. For the third year running, the Eminence team held their annual “Soup Nights” in Vancouver.

Eminence Volunteers Prepare More Than 150 Liters of Organic Soup for Sick Children

Over two fun and meaningful evenings, nearly 30 Eminence Organics staff volunteers worked at local culinary school The Dirty Apron, chopping and preparing organic ingredients to make three soups: Vegetarian Minestrone, Chicken and Grilled Corn Chowder, and Chicken Noodle Soup. Led by Chef Takashi, the team ended the night with more than 150 litres of soup portioned into individual containers for families and children receiving care at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital. We extend a special thank you to Pro Organics and Avalon Dairy for donating the organic ingredients.

The next night, the Eminence Kids Foundation and nine staff volunteers hosted a Family Dinner Night at a Vancouver long-term care facility. Serving the freshly made soups along with organic buns and juices, the team gave families an evening off to enjoy a homemade meal and friendly company. The facility houses over 70 families with children undergoing treatment at BC Children’s Hospital; more than 30 of those families joined the dinner, and the room was brightened with balloons, teddy bears for the kids, and upbeat music to create a warm, cheerful atmosphere.

Beyond the annual Soup Nights, the Eminence Kids Foundation also delivers 20 lb of organic fruit from Hazelmere Organic Farm to the long-term care facility every week, helping families add healthy fruit to their diets on a regular basis.
