Honoring Our Eco-Friendly Partners

Sustainability

For Earth Month 2018, Eminence Organics is excited to celebrate milestones like planting 10 million trees with Trees For The Future, and to highlight two of our green partners. As a Certified B Corporation, Eminence Organic Skin Care believes in working with other sustainable businesses to boost our positive impact. Two partners we’re proud of are TPH — The Printing House — and Novex Delivery Solutions.

Honoring Our Eco-Friendly Partners

We spoke with both companies to learn what eco-friendly practices mean to them. From sustainable materials to low-emission vehicles, see how these partners help Eminence lead the spa industry in environmental efforts.

Rebecca Stewart, TPH

TPH has worked with Eminence since early 2017. Based in Canada, TPH offers environmentally friendly printing services and works to offset its carbon footprint. For example, TPH plants a tree for every new account to support Canadian reforestation.

Why is sustainability important to TPH?
Social responsibility and sustainability have long been core values at TPH. What began as sensible business practices has become essential on a global scale. From helping customers meet sustainability goals to partnering with responsible suppliers, TPH is always working to reduce its environmental impact.

How is TPH committed to being eco-friendly?
TPH focuses on four pillars of sustainability:
– People: We aim to be a positive influence on employees and the communities where we operate.
– Product/Paper: We look for better ways to produce — through innovation, efficiency, and using more sustainable materials and methods.
– Planet: We strive to reduce our environmental footprint by improving operations and choosing better suppliers.
– Partnerships: We collaborate with stakeholders and partners to improve ourselves and our industry.

What’s an easy way any organization can commit to sustainability?
“Small changes have a big impact.” Introducing one new green practice in the office each month is an easy way for employees and the company to stay committed.

Brett Surgenor, Novex

Novex has worked with Eminence for over 15 years. The leading green courier in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Novex is also a Certified B Corporation.

Why is sustainability important to Novex?
Sustainability and social responsibility have been part of Novex since the early 2000s. Operating in an industry known for high greenhouse-gas emissions, we set a goal to move toward zero-emission deliveries and away from conventional gas-powered couriers. We care about our environmental impact and make responsible choices about how packages travel from point A to B.

How is Novex committed to being eco-friendly?
We have over 100 couriers who own their vehicles and embrace our green approach. Our fleet includes more hybrids than any other same-day courier in the area. Since we’re not fully electric yet, we partner with Offsetters to achieve carbon-neutral status by purchasing high-quality carbon offsets from greenhouse-gas reduction projects in BC.

We’ve also cut resource use in the office: since 2005 we’ve reduced paper by 75%, electricity by 42%, and eliminated natural gas. We also participate in the City of Richmond’s Adopt-A-Street program.

What’s an easy way any organization can go green?
“Start simple. Some companies think going green costs money and requires an all-or-nothing approach.” Vancouver offers many workshops and seminars on sustainability — attend them to gather ideas you can apply in your own company. Finally, use a green courier: Scope 3 emissions are often the largest part of a company’s carbon footprint, and choosing a service like Novex can help lower those emissions.

We’re proud to work with many eco-friendly businesses and appreciate their dedication to sustainability year-round. What does your company do to help the environment? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
