How to Live More Sustainably

Sustainability
Besides our homes, we spend the most time at work — and sadly, that’s often where we produce the most waste. Offices are where we print huge reports and run rows of computers. If you want to encourage recycling and greener habits both at work and at home, here are practical sustainability tips for each place.

How to Live More Sustainably

How To Be More Eco-Friendly

1. Switch Off & Unplug
Save energy by turning off equipment when it’s not in use — including computers, monitors and laptops. Even when switched off, many devices still draw power, so unplugging gadgets, chargers and appliances can make a real difference.

2. Green Your Commute
Reduce your footprint by walking, biking, working from home or taking public transit. If you need a car, try carpooling. Encourage coworkers to try greener commutes — it helps the planet and is good for your health and fitness.

3. Energy-Efficient Lights
Replace standard bulbs with energy-efficient options. They can last much longer and use far less power. “About 80% of the energy used by traditional bulbs is lost as heat, while LED bulbs run at roughly 80–90% efficiency.”

4. Get Smart With Paper
Start by cutting back on printed copies — use email, screens and digital presentations instead. When printing is necessary, choose double-sided printing and always recycle used paper.

5. Lunch On The Go
Bring your own lunch in reusable containers. People here reuse jars for snacks and dressings, and use items like sandwich wraps, metal water bottles and metal bento boxes to avoid disposable packaging.

6. Don’t Throw Out Wearable Clothes Or Uniforms
To reduce textile waste, mend or alter clothes and uniforms so they last longer. Fast fashion leads to huge amounts of clothing in landfills, where fabrics can take centuries to break down and release greenhouse gases. If you don’t wear something anymore, donate it — someone else may get good use from it.

7. Donations (Buy And Sell)
Passing on things you no longer need and buying secondhand helps the planet. Donate, sell or buy used items such as:
– Office furniture, appliances and equipment
– Electronics like phones, cameras, earbuds and computer gear
– Stationery
– Nonperishable food and unopened packaged goods

8. Composting
Composting cuts food waste by turning scraps into nutrient-rich soil. Set up a composter outside or in a garden corner. You can compost food leftovers, coffee grounds, grass clippings, newspapers, wood chips, cardboard and sawdust.

Fact 2: Our packing chips are made from 100% biodegradable corn and dissolve in water — try dropping a few into a glass, stir and watch them disappear. Some of our other packaging uses post-consumer recycled material, is printed on Forest Sustainability Council-Certified paper with eco-friendly inks, and is recyclable.

Fact 3: We earned Demeter certification. Demeter is a nonprofit that certifies Biodynamic® ingredients across farming, production and labeling. Their standards are strict: ingredients must be Demeter-certified and packaging must be free of preservatives, fungicides, insecticides and fumigants. Our Beyond Organic Collection includes formulas using ingredients from Demeter International Certified Biodynamic® farms, including certified Biodynamic products like our Facial Recovery Oil.
