We’re proud to share that on September 27, Eminence Organic Skin Care became the first professional skin care company in Canada to be certified as a B Corporation. When we learned how B Corporations (B Corps) are making a real difference, we knew we wanted to join this global movement.
What is a B Corp? Certified B Corps meet high standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Think of B Corp certification for businesses the way LEED is for buildings or Fair Trade is for coffee. The nonprofit B Lab certifies each company after a thorough assessment.
B Corps matter because they push businesses to be not just the best in the world, but the best for the world. “We are thrilled that Eminence Organic Skin Care is the first professional skin care company in Canada to become a Certified B Corporation,” says Joyce Sou, Director of B Lab Canada. “On behalf of B Lab, we hope this inspires other cosmetic companies to join the global movement of people using business as a force for good.”
For us, being a B Corp is more than a checklist. It means we carefully review our practices to make sure they’re socially and environmentally responsible, and we explain the reasons behind our choices to employees and customers.
B Corps are getting noticed: “B Corporations are a way to transcend the contradictions between the ineffective parts of the social sector and myopic capitalism.” — New York Times. “Think of it this way: USDA certified organic foods, and Good Housekeeping puts its seal of approval on quality products… Since 2006, B Lab has been certifying corporations it finds concerned about their communities and the environment.” — NPR.
We’ve joined more than 1,900 companies in 50 countries across 130 industries. Together, we can have a lasting impact. Being part of the B Corp community gives us another way to share our mission, especially our commitment to protecting the planet through green practices. Our recent milestone of planting six million trees is one example of that commitment. Becoming a Certified B Corp isn’t just an achievement—it’s part of the core values, vision, and mission of Eminence Organic Skin Care.
